THE WOMEN’S DEBATE LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN WITH PETITION URGING 2016 PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES TO COMMIT TO LIVE DEBATE ON WOMEN’S ISSUES
New York, NY – The Women’s Debate (thewomensdebate.org) has launched a nonpartisan campaign to urge our presidential candidates to commit to a live presidential debate on women’s economic, health, and safety policies. These are issues that when addressed have the potential to benefit society as a whole.
“Women represent more than half of the population and turn out to vote more than men yet women’s issues, outside of Planned Parenthood funding, have received little attention during the presidential debates,” said spokesperson and co-founder, Johanna Zeilstra.
The Women’s Debate is collecting signatures via a petition on change.org to build support for the debate. It is also collecting questions via thewomensdebate.org that will be presented to the presidential candidates with the aim of securing their participation in a live debate this fall.
Says Zeilstra, “It is our vision that gender equality, accessibility of health care, and safety become reality for all women and girls.”
